The review tables depicting, inter alia, basic data presented against the background of the country and in retrospection for years 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2012–2016, are given at the beginning of the publication. Detailed statistical data have been grouped in 23 chapters, preceded by general notes explaining terminology, methodology and scope of information used in the publication. Selected phenomena have been illustrated on charts and maps.

In the present edition of the Yearbook, we would like to draw your attention to methodological changes introduced in the thematic area „Science and technology.” In addition, for the first time, the chapter Health care and social welfare presented the information concerning family support through the “Family 500+” programme.

This Yearbook, apart from printed edition, which has been enriched with the CD-ROM including tables in Excel, is also available on the Office’s website http://wroclaw.stat.gov.pl and on CD-ROM.
