We would like to present to you a publication on “Competitiveness of powiats in the Dolnośląskie voivodship in the period 2004-2010”. This is the continuation of the previous publication published in 2006, which covered the period from 1999 to 2004.
The objective of this publication is to present the diversification of competitiveness level with the use of taxonomic methods of linear ordering. The accepted measures, which characterized individual powiats, concerned the six basic aspects of development, i.e. demographic potential, intellectual and social capital, living conditions/access to social services, labour market/workforce adaptability, technical infrastructure as well as economic potential/economic activity.
The publication consists of analytical and tabular parts, which are proceded with a description of accepted methodology, which, apart from subjective and objective scope of study as well as explanation of basic notions and definitions, provides methods of study, including selection index methods as well as the construction of taxonomic and synthetic measures, and a general measure.
